How the tip calculator works

The calculator multiplies your bill amount by the tip percentage to find the tip, then adds that to the bill to find the total. If you’re splitting the check, the total is divided by the number of people.

Tip amount = bill × (tip% ÷ 100) Total bill = bill + tip Per-person share = total ÷ number of people

Common tipping ranges

Tipping customs vary by country, but in many places:

10–15% is considered a modest tip
18–20% is common for good service
22–25%+ for excellent service or large groups
